VSC also owns two asphalt manufacturing plants in the Spyhill and Aldersyde areas, which are capable of producing most asphalt mixes the market requires. Current products include all Alberta Transportation and City of Calgary mix types. Our teams always maintain up-to-date knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal environmental policies. We are continually seeking methods for improving environmental and safety performance.

What Makes Us Different?
Asphalt Plants
ALDERSYDE AREA PLANT
Gravel Pits
Volker Stevin Contracting supplies aggregate, recycled concrete and asphalt materials for roads and infrastructure in Southern Alberta. We have several pits from which we can access materials when needed.
Volker Stevin Contracting operates the Stoney Trail Aggregate Reserve (STAR) gravel pit in partnership with the BLV Group on 85th Street NW. Our Spyhill and Aldersyde operations maintain recycle depots where over 100,000 tonnes of concrete and asphalt are recycled per year.
Inspection Laboratories
Our two custom-designed laboratories, manned by trained professionals, complete daily inspections testing on aggregate materials during crushing operations and mix production to ensure compliance with all specifications. Asphalt mixes are designed and completed by our in-house technicians and then certified by professional engineers to ensure compliance with specifications.
Equipment Repair Facility
One of our main differentiators is our equipment repair facility. Unlike most other contractors, Volker Stevin Contracting owns and operates our very own repair shop. The facility located just south of Calgary in Aldersyde boasts over 20,000 square feet of workspace and employs 25 people in all capacities. We moved into the building in 2012 and have maintained our equipment there ever since. This allows us to manage cost controls better, maintain higher quality standards and increase efficiency company-wide.
